Here’s Justin sharing why he began his CrossFit journey and what motivates him to keep pushing forward!๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป๐Ÿ˜Ž

My entire life I have always enjoyed the process of training, but my perception of training changed in 2018 when my mom passed away from colon & liver cancer. After that, I knew a radical change needed to take place in my life as a new dad and husband.

My interest in CrossFit began when we moved to Palm Coast in May of 2022. Allie and I both worked from home, so we needed to build a community for our family, and she encouraged me to go try out CrossFit Bearcat. I immediately fell in love with the sport and enjoyed the challenge of learning new skills. Most of all I enjoy the great friends and family that we’ve met along the way.

What keeps me motivated is maintaining my body’s long-term sustainability and embracing the challenge of attempting more RX workouts.๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

My children have always been my primary source of motivation, but in December 2022, something else pushed me to make a significant change in my life. I saw a photo of myself that made me realize I had let myself go. I was at my heaviest, going through a divorce, and feeling completely miserable. I was just going through the motions, not really living.
That was a wake-up call. I promised myself that I would lose weight, get back into CrossFit, and compete with everything I had. I was determined to win!
I owe my success to the incredible community I've found at the box. They have been my support system, pushing me to do better and holding me accountable. Without them, I wouldn't be where I am today.
I'm honored to be Athlete of the Month, but this is only the beginning! My journey towards self-improvement is ongoing, and I'm more motivated than ever to keep pushing myself. Thank you for allowing me to share my story ๐Ÿค

I joined CrossFit Bearcat in April 2021. What started as me looking for a hobby and a way to move my body… quickly turned into a burning passion for the sport. I have a weightlifting background so I’ve naturally felt comfortable doing any kind of workout with a barbell.

CrossFit Bearcat has impacted my life in so many positive ways. The woman that I was when I joined CrossFit has blossomed and flourished in ways I didn’t know were possible. I was shy, timid, and nervous at first but as you progress in CrossFit, not only do you get better at the movements/skills but you as a person get better. Your mind is better, stronger, and healthier every single day you show up. Whether you’re new to CrossFit, scaling, or RX’ing wods I love that there is always something for you to work on and improve on as an athlete. That applies to all aspects of life, as well. CrossFit has gotten me through some of the most challenging points in my life. Having a sense of purpose and showing up for yourself is something we all need to feel empowered by. Not to mention the outpouring of support from the community and all of the friends I have made here at Bearcat. I’m so thankful for this gym and our people.

We are ๐’•๐’‰๐’“๐’Š๐’๐’๐’†๐’… to recognize ๐€๐ง๐๐ซ๐ž๐ฐ ๐†๐š๐ฌ๐ฉ๐š๐ซ as our ๐™Š๐™˜๐™ฉ๐™ค๐™—๐™š๐™ง ๐˜ผ๐™ฉ๐™๐™ก๐™š๐™ฉ๐™š ๐™ค๐™› ๐™ฉ๐™๐™š ๐™ˆ๐™ค๐™ฃ๐™ฉ๐™. He is known as Mr. No Days Off, The Needle Mover, and The OG for his unwavering commitment to fitness. And now, let’s hear what our athlete of the month had to say. โฌ‡๏ธ

๐ŸˆFrom childhood through college, I was an avid football player.  During that time, my strength and conditioning coach heavily incorporated Olympic weightlifting into our workout program. After I graduated, and a few knee surgeries later, I didn’t work out as often as I should have. I ballooned to 250 lbs and decided I needed a change. I was doing TRX training when the instructor told me about a CrossFit box in Flagler Beach. My CrossFit journey began in April of 2012, and I followed Cat and Jody once they opened up Bearcat. I quickly adapted to the program, thanks to my lifting background and superhuman strength.

๐Ÿฆธ๐Ÿป‍โ™‚๏ธFor me, CrossFit is about three things. First, someone once said with great power comes great responsibility. I feel it’s my responsibility as the Needle Mover, Mr. No Days Off, and the OG to represent Bearcat to the fullest. Second, I like to eat and drink a little more than I should so when I look down, I would like to see my wee wee without my belly getting in the way. Lastly and most importantly, I can't do the things I did 10+ years ago. It doesn’t bother me that I can’t RX the workouts like I used to or I get time capped more than I should. My drive and motivation are to work hard and provide for my family. The real world is what I need to be prepared for not running a 5K. So coming to BearCat has been more about my mental health. For that 1 hour a day I can forget about the outside world, work out with awesome people, and have a few laughs while doing it. This helps my mind stay focused so I can be the best version of myself that I need to be.
